Michael Munoz serves as Chief Executive Officer of San Juan EPC LLC. Mr. Munoz holds a Bachelor Of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Masters Of Management graduate degree from The Kellogg School Of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. Mike began his energy career at Arizona Public Services’ Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Tonopah, Arizona. Throughout the mid-1990s, Palo Verde was under intense scrutiny by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of its maintenance and operational shortcomings, which led to a focus on corrective actions. Mr. Munoz led the project team tasked with improved control room operations and safety. After Palo Verde, Mr. Munoz moved his focus to Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA) facilities. Mr. Munoz purchased and operated a manufacturing plant that used waste wood sawdust to produce heat and power. Mr. Munoz operated these thermal units for 17 years. In 2017, Mike led a team that acquired a 48MW combined cycle cogeneration power plant in urban Los Angeles. Mr. Munoz operated this Qualifying Facility as its Chief Operating Officer through 2023. Mike has now turned his attention to creating sub 10MW simple cycle power plants based on the General Electric LM1500 aeroderivative turbine. Over the last two years, Mike and his team have completed the engineering required to build and operate the LM1500 power plant. San Juan EPC and its partners are now engaged in the packaging and test firing the first batch of seven (7) LM1500 9.5MW power plants.
